The ESA technical service, according with its institutional role, issued a research on reducing pesticides in table grapes production.

The research has been developed by SOPAT of San Cataldo that tested table grapes put into bags in order to protect not only the clusters from pesticides but also from insects and heavy environmental conditions.

The tests began in 1989 using bags of different material (canvas, cloth, paper etc.) and later with a collaboration with P.A.T.I. S.p.A. has been carried a plastic bag transparent and breathable that showed immediately very interesting results.

ESA followed the trials since 1989 with high interest because the table grape protected by bag improves its own organoleptic characteristics ensuring to the consumer a product without residues and of high quality.
